Upper School Students Win Washington State Ethics Bowl
Congratulations to the Bush Upper School Ethics Bowl team, who took home the Washington State High School Ethics Bowl Championship this past weekend.
The Bush Ethics Bowl team is a student-led club where students explore complex ethical questions and practice thoughtful dialogue. This year’s competition took place on Saturday, March 7, at the University of Washington School of Law, where teams from across the state gathered to analyze and discuss real-world ethical dilemmas.
Hosted by the University of Washington Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization, the Ethics Bowl challenges students to engage with topics such as cheating and plagiarism, peer pressure, relationships, and the impact of social media. Rather than debating to “win” an argument, teams collaborate, listen carefully, and build thoughtful responses that consider multiple perspectives.
The Bush team demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, collaboration, and respectful dialogue throughout the competition, earning the top spot in Washington State.
The club is advised by Middle School English faculty member Alex Gamberg. Way to go, Blazers!
