What happens if my child misses the bus in the morning?
Families will be able to track their bus through the Zūm app to anticipate when the bus will arrive at their pick-up stop in real time. The bus will stop for three minutes at each stop. Should your child miss the bus, they will have to arrange alternate transportation to school. The Bush School is not responsible for your child prior to them getting on the bus.
What happens if my child misses the bus in the afternoon?
The buses will leave promptly from Bush at 3:45 p.m. every day. There are a variety of options should your child miss the bus in the afternoon depending on their division. Lower School and Middle School students will go to Extended Day. Upper School students can make their own arrangements and leave campus at any time after dismissal.
All students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m., either from Extended Day or from campus. Lower School families will be charged for Extended Day if their child(ren) misses the bus. If you receive financial aid from The Bush School, the cost of Lower School Extended Day is covered at the same percentage as financial aid for tuition.
What happens if my child is not a self-release student and no one is there to pick them up from the bus stop in the afternoon?
The Bush School will hold the child on the bus and parents can meet them at the last stop. Drivers will wait up to fifteen minutes at the last stop, and if no one shows then return the student to the Bush campus. If the child is returned to campus, the family will be assessed a $150 late fee and the child will have to be picked up from The Bush School.
Where is my child going to be dropped off at Bush?
All children riding the bus will be dropped off at the Extended Day gate. Lower School students will be greeted by a Lower School assistant who will escort them to the library prior to the start of school.
What do I do if my child is absent from school that day?
In addition to contacting your division assistant, parents/guardians must cancel their child’s bus ride through the Zum app.
What are the latest bus pick-up and drop-off times and specific locations?
The latest bus pick-up and drop-off times are available in the Zūm app for registered families. For security reasons we cannot post them on the website.
Can I change my child’s bus stop or make changes to my child’s daily bus schedule?
For more permanent changes to your child’s daily bus schedule, such as a stop change or using different stops on different days, please email Chance Montgomery, Transportation Coordinator at
chance.montgomery@bush.edu. The school will update its records and your changes will be reflected in the Zūm app once that information is confirmed.
Temporary changes such as day-of-cancellations and short term changes in schedule due to vacations etc., can be made through contacting Zum by phone or within the app.
Do you offer any refunds or trial periods for the bus service?
Families that register for the semester or year-long bus program are offered a two-week trial period to start the school year. If families cancel during this trial period, they will receive a prorated refund for the rest of semester or school year. We do not offer any other refunds after the trial period is over.
Is there a bus for afterschool activities?
We are not offering a bus for afterschool activities at this time. Families are welcome to sign up for the two-month afternoon-only intervals to better fit their students’ schedules.
Why are there only bus routes for the Eastside and South Seattle?
These bus routes were established based on a community survey and feedback. If you would like to see a bus route in your neighborhood, we encourage you to talk to Bush families in your area to see if there is sufficient demand to establish a new route. Contact us at
bus.service@bush.edu if you have any further questions.
What happens if my child loses their RFID card?
There will be a monthly issuance for students that lose their RFID card from the school. Students can ride the bus without an RFID card if needed.
